President's Volunteer Service Award

  • Now, more than ever, our country relies on volunteers investing their time and talent to resolve the most pressing issues of our times, and Americans of all ages are responding to this call to service. 

    The President's Volunteer Service Award recognizes, celebrates and holds up as role models Americans making a positive impact as engaged and deeply committed volunteers. The award enables community organizations — as Certifying and Leadership Organizations — to amplify their gratitude by joinig with the President of the United States to thank their most dedicated volunteers. 

    President's Volunteer Service Award logoIn 2003, the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation launched the President's Volunteer Service Award to recognize the importance of volunteers to America's strength and national identify, and furthermore, to honor the deeply invested volunteers whose service is multiplied through the inspiration they give others.

    Today, the program continues as an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service, managed in partnership with Points of light, an international nonprofit with the mission to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to take action to change the world.

    Award Criteria

    Lifetime Achievement Award

    • Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more hours in their lifetime

    Gold Award

    • Age 11-15 - 100+ hours
    • Ages 16-25 - 250+ hours

    Silver Award

    • Age 11-15 - 75-99 hours
    • Age 16-25 - 175-249 hours

    Bronze Award

    • Age 11-15 - 50-74 hours
    • Age 16-25 - 100-174 hours

    Olathe South recognizes students annually for hours served between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31.

    Hours should be recorded on the volunteer log found below or via email from the OSHS staff sponsor or parent volunteer.

    Completed volunteer logs are due to the OSHS staff sponsor or parent volunteer no later than Jan. 31.
