Program Goals
Post-graduate experience is geared toward individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Experiences are designed to increase student independence, adaptive daily living skills, and work readiness skills to prepare them to live productive and fulfilled lives. Skills are taught in a functional setting as students engage in work experiences and collaborative activities and learn about their role as a community member.
Work Experience
Individuals engaged in RISE continue to enhance their vocational skills through a daily community-based work experience. These opportunities present themselves through the Alternative Work Experience (AWE), community work environments and working remotely in the building.
Community Collaboration
Community collaboration allows individuals to make community connections while engaging in meaningful activities. These activities vary each semester, although RISE strives to provide a community collaboration experience each day.
Students have support from a job coach who receives ongoing training from the teacher and autism specialist.
