The eighth grade awards ceremony will be in May and various awards are given. If your child has been recognized for an award, a letter will be sent home inviting you and your child to attend the ceremony, which is held in the auditorium during the evening hours.
Presidential Award
- 3.75 GPA or above and standardized assessment scores of 85% or above in either reading or math
Cougars of the Year Award
- Must be nominated by three different teachers at Indian Trail
- Shows positive attitude toward classmates
- Is involved and serves in the school and community
- Demonstrates strength and character
- Promotes citizenship within Indian Trail
- Exhibits a desire and willingness to learn
- No office referrals
KSHSAA Citizenship Award
- Respect: shows respect at all times for the flag, national anthem and constitution; for the students and citizens of the school and community; respects public and private property; shows respect for the student and adult leaders in the school and community; demonstrates tolerance and respect for the religious convictions of others.
- Responsibility: demonstrates the willingness to assume citizenship responsibilities in the school and the community; works to build school pride through active participation in those projects which publicize, hone and beautify the school; displays good sportsmanship whether as a participant or a spectator; is friendly toward new students and encourages them to become involved in school activities.
- Reverence: shows reverence and concern for life.
4.0 GPA all five semesters
- Students who had a 4.0 GPA all five semesters in middle school (grades 6-8)
