Early Childhood Transportation to and from School
Early Childhood students may be eligible for transportation services based on Early Childhood team recommendations. Access to transportation for early childhood peers will no longer be available beginning with the 2021-22 school year. To help families make a smooth transition, transportation will be offered on a space-available, payride basis for early childhood peers attending the afternoon session only during the 2020-21 school year.
Please complete the transportation request form for the 2020-2021 school year by July 23, 2020. If not submitted by July 23, school bus transportation may not be available on the first day of school. Click on the link below.
Families must complete the transportation request form if they would like to access school bus services.
Changes to existing bus riders:
Please click on the transportation request form to submit a change. Change requests must be received by noon on Tuesdays for the change to begin by the following Monday or by noon on Thursday to begin by the following Wednesday. Due to various no school days, start date may be delayed.
We will not be able to accommodate temporary changes.
Bus route information will be distributed by DS Buc Lines. The scheduled pick-up time is an approximate time. Please have your child ready to board the bus at least five minutes before the scheduled pick-up time each day that your child rides. It is standard procedure for the bus to wait only two minutes past the scheduled pick-up time and then continue the scheduled route. If the bus has unplanned delays of more than 10 minutes, our school bus provider will attempt to alert parents through an automated system.
Please call DS Bus Lines at 913-361-7400 when your child is not riding the bus to school on any given day due to illness, appointments, etc. Please notify your child's school of attendance when your child is not riding the bus after school.
Please notify the Olathe Public Schools transportation office of all persons authorized to accept your child from the bus. Students will only be released to persons you have authorized through the Olathe Public Schools transportation office.
Early childhood students are routed from their home or daycare provider to and from school. Students will be routed "curb side" whenever possible; students may receive adult assistance when needed for daycare parking lots or apartment complexes. All early childhood buses are equipped with age appropriate child restraint systems and a bus monitor.
