Information for Eighth Graders and Their Parents
-
Planning for high school is an exciting time in students’ lives. Olathe Public Schools is invested in “Preparing Students for THEIR Future” and this means an individualized approach and student choice to make sure our students are college and career ready.
Our students have the opportunity to explore a variety of options, including the 21 Century Academies, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career Pathways, and two-year technical programs at our Olathe Advanced Technical Center campus. These options focus on the high-demand career fields and help students prepare for the path in front of them.
Each of the 21st Century Academies will hold an open house for students and parents to attend in order to visit the facilities and find out more details about the academy. They are all on different dates and families can attend as many as they choose and fit into their schedule. If a family is unable to attend the scheduled date, please email the academy facilitator for more information. Information about each academy, as well as dates for the community open houses can be found on the 21st Century Academies website.
The application window for 21st Century Academies will open on Thursday, Nov. 17.
There will be a High School Options parent presentation in the Summit Trail auditorium on Oct. 11 at 6:00 p.m. for parents who would like to learn mroe about their students' high school opportunities.
