COVID-19 Info

  • Johnson County Department of Health and Environment has updated its Disease and Exclusion Recommendations/Regulations (PDF) to come into line with the recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for COVID, and other respiratory viruses. Under the new Johnson County guidelines, the exclusion for “Respiratory Virus Illness” (COVID-19, influenza, RSV, etc.) will be to exclude until both are true: symptoms are getting better and no fever for 24 hours without aid of medication.

If you have tested positive for COVID, Influenza or RSV, these are recommendations provided by the Johnson County Health Department:

    • You can go back to your normal activities and return to school when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:
      • Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
      • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
    • When you go back to your normal activities, take added precautions over the next five days, such as taking additional steps for cleaner air, hygiene, masks, physical distancing, and/or testing when you will be around other people indoors.
    • Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better. You are likely to be less contagious at this time, depending on factors like how long you were sick or how sick you were.
    • If you develop a fever or start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24 hours, both are true: your symptoms are improving overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Then take added precaution for the next five days.
    • Free Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test kits are available at no charge and can be picked up at all district buildings. If you have questions about your test kit, please contact the manufacturer's customer support line at 1-800-838-9502.
