Immunization Requirements

  • Due to ongoing research into the effectiveness of immunizations against vaccine-preventable diseases, the following changes were made to immunization requirements (K.A.R. 28-1-20) to support the health of your child and of our school community:

    • Meningococcal (A,C,W,Y) required vaccine: One dose required to start seventh grade. The second dose will be required for entry into 11th grade to complete the two-dose series.
    • Tdap: Required for entrance into seventh grade.

All current sixth graders who do NOT have both the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines will receive notice by mid-May.

Now required for sixth and seventh grade students: Hepatitis A — Two doses a minimum of six months apart.

Additionally, the following immunization is strongly recommended for middle and high school, but not yet required:

    • Gardasil (HPV) for cancer prevention: No younger than 9 years; age 11 or older is preferred.

Email vaccine documentation to the nurse, fax to school nurse at 913-780-7216 or bring it to the school office.
