The Academies located at Olathe South will hold a community open house from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.
Parking Information:
Please park in the northwest parking lot and enter through the Event Entrance on that side of the building.
Things to See and Do at Our Open House
-
- Interact with our Optitrak, 6 Camera, Motion Capture System and learn how Senior Capstone students have used it in their past projects.
- Watch our Stratasys F170 3D Printer in action and see examples of how we use it in our academy.
- See the stages of engineering design by talking to Seniors who have built a prototype of a medical device (using an Arduino) to create solutions to current health care needs.
- Get hands on by learning how to intubate and use an ambu bag to provide oxygen for a patient.
- Practice doing laparoscopic surgery and using various surgical tools using one of our training modules.
- Learn about prosthetics, see arm and leg prosthetics, and see a few examples of the prosthetic hand prototypes our students have created.
- Talk to students about their bioengineering projects they took to the KU Design Day Competition this year.
- Learn about heart anatomy as you test out a few of our student’s “Valve in a Box” engineering challenge prototypes.
- Hear about fieldtrips, competitions, eHours, and other opportunities you’ll have available if you are part of our academy.
- Ask questions and get information on how to apply to our Academy.
