Becky joined the Olathe School District in 1986 and retired in 2015. She taught physical education at Pioneer Trail Middle School, where she was twice named to represent the district in the Emporia State University Master Teacher Award program. She spent more than 20 years coaching four sports. Becky represented the Kauffman Foundation for 19 years by speaking at conventions and training educators and administrators on drug and alcohol prevention. Becky became assistant principal of Chisholm Trail Middle School in 2005 and principal of Indian Trail Middle School in 2009. Indian Trail was recognized as a Title I Reward School by the Kansas State Department of Education, and a Middle School of the Year finalist by the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators during her tenure as principal. Her efforts to raise test scores at Indian Trail included improving parent communication, offering after-school tutoring, and asking everyone involved to be proud of their school. One of her former students, who is now a teacher and coach in the Olathe district, said, “I know that she shaped the teacher and coach that I am today.”
