Elementary Summer Learning Options
Extended School Year (ESY)
Extended School Year (ESY) is also available for students found eligible for this service by their IEP team. ESY focuses on the IEP goals identified by the IEP team. Please contact your child’s special education case manager for more information.
Families Learning in Partnerships (FLIP)
Families Learning in Partnerships is a program to connect parents to their schools and student learning. As elementary students move into the summer, Learning Services and district elementary schools would like to provide families with resources, strategies and fun ideas to keep students engaged in continuous learning. Summer FLIP nights will run from 6:00-7:30 p.m. They will rotate to many district elementary schools and be available to all families in the high school feeder pattern. Summer FLIP will be offered the evenings of June 22-24 and June 29-30, with specific communication sent out from each school later in May.
Level Up Your Learning
Level Up Your Learning is a website for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade to engage with key skills through games, activities and lessons. Students may follow reading and math activities based on recommendations from their teachers, or choose their own learning adventure based on their interests (art, music, physical education, science, social studies or reading).
The website will launch May 17 and families will receive district communication telling them more about its features.
Mental Health Clinic
All students, their families, and Olathe Public Schools staff members are invited to receive free mental health services through the district’s Summer Mental Health Clinic. This clinic will provide services from May 25-Aug. 5, 2021. Services will be offered by Olathe Public Schools mental health providers and therapeutic interns from Friends University. Group and individual therapy, as well as behavior consultations for parents and students, will be available. Individuals may sign up for this clinic beginning in early May. Visit the district’s student health website for more information.

- Students in grades K-4 will be hosted at Prairie Trail Middle School. (8:15-10:45 a.m.)
- Students in grades 5-7 will be hosted at Pioneer Trail Middle School. (9-11:30 a.m.)
We focus on one foundational skill in reading and one in math.
Families may contact their school counselor for a tutor list provided as a courtesy. The district tutor list represents names of Olathe Public Schools certified teachers and substitutes who have requested to be listed as a tutor. The district will also retain names of retired teachers and certified district staff who are currently on leave if they desire. This list is provided purely as a courtesy to parents and students. It is the responsibility of the parents and students to check references, qualifications, and arrange meeting times and fees. Fees are between the tutor and parent.
