Transfer Student Withdraw Guidelines and Athletic Eligibility.

  • Middle school students in the eighth grade who accept admission into a 21st Century Academy at a high school outside their attendance feeder pattern are automatically granted a transfer to, and athletic eligibility at, the high school where their academy is located. Beginning with the class of 2026, entering high school in the fall of 2022, transfer students that withdraw from an academy will be subject to the guidelines and eligibility for athletics.

If a transfer student withdraws or is removed from the academy, the following will happen as determined by the year:

    • Ninth grade — The student will complete the school year and return to their boundary high school for their 10th grade year.
    • 10th grade — The student will complete the current semester and return to their boundary high school at the beginning of the following semester.
    • 11th or 12th grade — The student will complete the current semester and then may remain at the transfer high school or return to their boundary high school at the beginning of the following semester.
      • If approved to remain at their transfer high school, the family will need to provide their own transportation or pay for busing.
