Open Enrollment Process

Thank you for your interest in Olathe Public Schools! Our vision is "Their Future is Our Future." We offer a variety of programs led by world-class educators, designed to inspire and support students at every stage of their journey. From advanced math and literacy courses in middle school to high school programs like AVID, Advanced Placement, College Now courses, and innovative Career Pathways, we prepare students for both college and careers. Our strong fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular programs ensure a well-rounded experience, with more than 60% of students participating. In addition, more than $50 million in scholarships were awarded to 2024 graduates. In the Olathe Public Schools, we provide your child with the opportunities, support, and resources they need to succeed today and in the future.
Open Enrollment for Out-of-District Families
Enrollment in Olathe Public Schools is open to non-resident students at schools with available space, as outlined in Kansas House Bill 2567. The bill requires school districts to allow non-residents to enroll if there are open seats in the district. View the district's policy JBCC on open enrollment.
Dates to Know
- Non-resident Applications Open: Jan. 1-June 15, 2025
- District Enrollment Capacity Determined: On or before May 1, 2025
- Non-resident Open Enrollment Applications Reviewed: June 16-20, 2025
Transportation will not be provided for students attending a school outside their attendance boundaries. Once admitted through the non-resident open enrollment process, students may continue attending Olathe schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, provided they maintain good standing. Eligibility to participate in Kansas State High School Activities Association activities for open enrollment students will be determined by KSHSAA policies.

Interested in touring our buildings? Submit your information online to request a tour. (Please note, Open Enrollment Tour Requests are intended for families who live out of district boundaries and are looking to transfer their child into the district. If you are a current district resident with an incoming kindergarten student, you will have an opportunity to visit your child's school during Kindergarten Enrollment in the spring.
