Dual Language Lottery Information
All families interested in the Olathe Public Schools Immersion Program must complete the online application (closed March 27 for the 2020-21 year). This is the only way to be entered into the lottery.
A lottery will be used to determine student placement in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program at each of the two immersion schools for the 2020-21 school year. The two schools with kindergarten immersion sections available will be Black Bob and Manchester Park elementary schools.
Two separate lottery lists will be established for each immersion school. One lottery will be established for students within the attendance area of the immersion school and one lottery list for students living outside the attendance area. The number of students chosen from each lottery list will be based on classroom enrollment numbers at each site. On the online application, parents must choose one of the two schools to be entered in the corresponding lottery.
All students who have submitted applications by the March 27 deadline will be entered in the lottery. Applying early is not an advantage. Applications turned in after the deadline will be added to the bottom of the wait list.
Students who are not chosen from the lottery will be put on the waiting list. If space becomes available, the family of the next student on the waiting list will be contacted.
The lottery enrollment period for the 2020-21 school year has closed, and we are not accepting additional students at this time.
The lottery for the 2021-22 school year for kindergarten will open in March 2021.
